Synopsis : The 26th Let’s Make a Difference (LMAD) Jamshedpur Youth Conference, hosted by Kerala Public School, has brought together 250 students from across Jamshedpur for an inner engineering workshop focused on self-awareness, values and purpose. This significant annual initiative offers young people an opportunity to pause, look inward and connect with themselves amid the pressures and distractions of an increasingly chaotic world.

The conference opened with silent prayer and calming exercises. The opening ceremony was deliberately understated, helping students settle into a reflective atmosphere and prepare for deeper engagement. The school management welcomed Mr. Viral Mazumdar, the conference convenor and lead facilitator, along with city coordinators Mr. Rajiv Agarwal and Mrs. Shraddha Agarwal and a team of 28 volunteers, whose selfless commitment to students’ well-being and personal growth underpins the initiative.

Day two began with prayer and a session on ‘Quiet Time’, led by Mr. Mazumdar. Drawing on personal experiences, he encouraged students to examine their lives through four core values—honesty, love, purity and unselfishness—while acknowledging the challenges of practising them consistently. Students then spent time in silence and self-reflection.

On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Bhargavi Songrikar shared insights into Mahatma Gandhi’s life and ideals. Participants also paid tribute to Dr. Amit Mukherjee, who passed away in early September. Rajiv Agarwal remembered him as a respected pioneer and guide of the Jamshedpur Youth Conference, followed by a minute’s silence in his memory.

A central session, ‘The Pyramid of Life’, guided students to reflect on and write about their habits, hobbies, goals and purpose. Facilitated by Mr. Mazumdar, the interactive session and subsequent group discussions encouraged students to consider how their everyday choices shape their future. Participants and volunteers shared their experiences, with several students expressing greater clarity about their aspirations.

The concluding session, ‘Day Light Saving’, conducted by Sayok Sarkar, explored time management, recognising wasted time and adopting practical habits to make better use of each day.

The organising team expressed special appreciation to Mr. Sharat Chandran, Director, and Mrs. Lakshmi Sharat, Academic Director, Kerala Public School, for their continued support as the host institution.

Coordinators Rajiv Agarwal, Shraddha Agarwal, Bhisham, Sonu, Vijay Rane and Bhargavi, supported by Sangeeta Sarkar, Suman, Sayok, Kaushik, Nishant, Sujit, P. Vidya, Bidyashree, Aryan, Jeet, Shivangi, Bipasha, Mahika, Huzaifa, Sheetal, Danish, Somay, Madhu, Prabhjot, Sonakshi and Aparajita, have contributed to the conference’s organisation and conduct.

Their collective effort is giving students the space to listen inward, question thoughtfully and approach their lives with greater awareness, empathy and responsibility.
