In an initiative aimed at preparing young learners to navigate an increasingly complex digital world, Gulmohur High School, Jamshedpur, in collaboration with the Tata Education Excellence Programme (TEEP 2.0), successfully conducted a two-phase Inter-School Digital Literacy Programme on 26 August and 25 September 2026, bringing together 108 participants from 18 schools.

Designed primarily for students of Classes VI to VIII, the programme focused on building practical awareness of emerging digital opportunities and risks. Each phase comprised an intensive three-hour session, covering Artificial Intelligence, deepfakes, voice cloning, prompt engineering, social engineering, online scams and the responsible use of AI.

Moving beyond theory, the sessions used live demonstrations, interactive activities and real-life examples to help participants understand the digital world more critically. Students learned to identify deepfakes and manipulated content, recognise scam and social-engineering techniques, understand the risks associated with voice cloning, frame effective prompts and make safer and more responsible choices while using AI and digital platforms.

A distinctive feature of the programme was its student-led approach. Akshat Sarkar, the student lead, played a key role in planning, creating activities, coordinating the student team and facilitating the sessions along with Aadarsh Kumar, Amrit Kumar Singh, Saharsh Kumar, Aarush and other student volunteers. The student team was mentored and guided by faculty member Vipul Teacher.

The entire programme was conceptualised, planned and implemented under the guidance of Mrs. Priti Sinha, Principal, Gulmohur High School, with a strong emphasis on developing responsible and informed digital citizens.

Reflecting on the initiative, Mrs. Sinha said, “In a world where technology is evolving faster than ever, digital literacy must go beyond knowing how to use technology. Our students need to question, verify and make responsible choices. This programme was particularly meaningful because students themselves became leaders of digital awareness, learning together and empowering their peers.”

Through this collaborative initiative, Gulmohur High School and TEEP 2.0 reinforced the importance of digital awareness, critical thinking, responsible AI use and peer-led learning, enabling young learners to engage with the rapidly evolving digital world safely, intelligently and responsibly.
