Bringing policing and crime control under digital vigilance, Ranchi police are planning to install closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras to keep a close eye on these aspects of law and order. Under this initiative, sets of CCTV cameras will be set up in police stations, along major arteries and roundabouts and residential and commercial structures.
“Six of our police stations, including Kotwali, Argora, Sadar, Bariatu, Jagannathpur and Khelgaon, have already received sets of four CCTV cameras each. These can be found at the entrance, in the OC’s office room, Sirista and lock-up,” informed Ranchi SSP Prabhat Kumar.
Moreover, three major roundabouts, Argora Chowk, Albert Ekka Chowk and Kutchery Chowk, will be watched through CCTV cameras by the first week of January. We using the infrastructure of cable service proividers GTPL and Manthan for this, said Kumar.
CCTV cameras will also be put at upcoming and new apartments in order to keep an eye on visitors and provide another layer of security to the families living there.
