Jharkhand is all set to welcome President Pranab Mukherjee, who will be on two-day visit to the State to attend educational events at two universities besides, a cultural extravaganza — 88th Nikhil Bharat Bang Sahitya Sammelan — at Ranchi.
The President will be arriving in the afternoon of January 9 and would go to Hazaribagh to preside over the convocation of Vinoba Bhave University. He is likely to return to Ranchi soon after the function for night halt at the presidential suite of Raj Bhawan. In the evening, Mukherjee would be inaugurating renovated Audrey House and the art gallery situated in the premises of the 19th century residence of Chotanagpur Commissioner which have been restored by the Building Construction department.
On January 10, Mukherjee will inaugurate a cultural event to be organized at International Sports Complex at Hotwar.
As many as 1500 participants, including Bengali speaking authors and poets from all over the country, will attend the cultural event which the Jharkhand capital is playing host for the first time. He will also lay foundation stone for Jharkhand University of Technology.
After inaugurating the fest, Mukherjee would head to premier technical deemed university, Birla Institute of Technology (BIT), Mesra to felicitate students of the university in convocation ceremony. The district administration swung into action to roll out red carpet welcome to the first citizen of India as the city is also preparing to enchant the President with beauty and well decorated streets.
