It was a golden letter day for the Vinoba Bhave University on Saturday when none other than President Pranab Mukherjee attended its seventh convocation and enlightened the students. He on the occasion presented glorious intellectual past of the country and encouraged the younger generations to maintain that in future as well.
“Our country was the world guru for more than 1,800 years due to the centres of higher education like Takshshila, Nalanda, which were in this eastern part of the country. Since last more than three decades not a single Indian university or institution has been in the list of top 200 of the world. During last three-and-a half years of my tenure, I visited many universities and institutions and asked why is it so? It is a matter of pleasure that recently two Indian institutes have made it in the list of top 200 of the world but we all have to make make effort in reinstating the previous status of India,” said the President in his address.
He also recalled his previous visit of VBU and used this occasion to guide the outgoing students. “Today you are going to leave this campus and enter into the real life struggle. But don’t be nervous because what you had learnt here will always help and guide you in walking ahead on the path of success,” said the President.
The ceremony also saw Chancellor of the universities of Jharkhand and Governor Draupadi Murmu, MoS-cum-local MP Jayant Sinha, Education Minister Neera Yadav, VC Prof Gurdeep Singh, Pro-VC Dr MP Sinha present.
