In a bid to curb malpractices in National Eligibility Test (NET), the University Grants Commission (UGC) introduced a new norm. This time, the candidates need not carry a pen or even pencil to examination halls. Instead all candidates will be provided with a ballpoint pen in the examination centre.
On behalf of UGC, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced to conduct NET on December 27 of this year.
A notification has been issued in this regard. According to the notification all the examination halls will have a wall clock; hence candidates are also not allowed to wear watch in the examination hall.
Pencil is strictly prohibited, if any candidate is found darkening the answer sheet with pencil, their answer sheet will straightaway be rejected.
NET is conducted in 83 subjects at 88 selected NET examination centres across the country. Several restrictions were imposed in wake of the Supreme Court verdict scrapping the All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT) conducted by CBSE, said an official.
