Members of Indian Academy of Paediatrics organised a candle march on Sunday to show their solidarity towards Dr Rakesh Kumar, who has been accused of medical negligence and several other criminal activities.
Marching with the vigil, Dr Swati, Rakesh’s wife, said, “We have requested the Chief Justice of Jharkhand to ensure that justice prevails in the matter. We are hopeful that the allegations of criminal activities made against my husband will be found false.”
Rakesh was booked for medical negligence and money extortion after a newborn child passed away during his treatment. The family members also blamed police officials for issuing warrant and harassing them without investigating the matter thoroughly.
A Jharkhand High Court bench will hear the case on Monday to decide on granting bail to Rakesh. As of now, he has been declared absconding by police authorities.
