The dilapidated Town Hall near Kutchery Chowk will soon make way for the much-awaited vendors’ market. On instructions from Chief Minister Raghubar Das, a multipurpose complex is to be constructed where the Town Hall stands in front of Jaipal Singh Stadium.
A presentation in this regard, arranged by Urban Development Department, was seen by the CM during the review meeting of the Department on Friday. The three-story tall complex will have parking space in its basement with capacity of 300 vehicles. The first floor will have counters or kiosks which will be allotted to street vendors. The second floor will have shops, whereas the third floor will have a banquet hall accompanied by six rooms, which can be used as venue for organsing various events. Food courts will be set up at both first and second floors.
The presentation also included plans for developing an ‘urban haat’ at Rock Garden near Kanke Dam, with adventure sports facilities. Children park, open air theatre, digital display, artificial water fall and more will be put up to add to the landscape of the entertainment park. A food court has also been included in the plans. Plans to develop Naga Baba Khatal into a shopping complex and multi-storey parking were also discussed during the meeting.
