The South Eastern Railway (SER) was empowered on Sunday as Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu unveiled many projects for Jharkhand and Odisha by the click of a button. Initially, he dedicated Rajkharswan-Sini third line ranging 16.50 kilometres followed with the Additional Loop Lines dedicated at Harubera, Barkipona, Nagjua and Urma stations. He laid the foundation stone for the Second Electric Loco Shed at Bondamunda. Moreover, he flagged off Train number 78103/78104 Rourkela-Sambhalpur DEMU Passenger.
For the State capital, he inaugurated Jharkhand’s first Railway Astro-Turf Hockey stadium, which is also the first Indian poly grass ground of Railways. The fifth Mechanised laundry of SER was inaugurated at Ranchi station as well. “It is a matter of joy that today we are contributing towards SER from the State capital of Jharkhand. Mechanised Laundry in each Division will be functional to provide quality bed rolls like 5 star hotels to the passengers,” said the Railway Minister.
Chief Minister Raghubar Das informed that with the commissioning of new mechanised laundry, SER has got five such laundries, each of a tonne capacity at Ranchi, Hatia, Jamshedpur, Santragacchi and Chakradharpur. As per Railway Board Mechanical Member Hemant Kumar the Ranchi laundry is probably the 37 or 38th laundry in India. “A total of 64 mechanised laundries are lined up. Indian Railway supplies 3 lakh bedrolls every day,” said Hemant.
