State Government has given its final nod to the Master Plan for the Capital city that would have provisions for wider streets for better commutation, houses for all, open and green spaces and even Mono Rail on different routes. The plan projects population of the city to grow up to 31.58 lakh by 2037 and have provisions for all the basic amenities for the residents keeping in mind their requirement.
Informing about the decision taken by the Cabinet on Tuesday Urban Development Department’s Principal Secretary Arun Kumar Singh said that the city would be expanded in 652.02 square kilometer area covering 55 wards of the Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) and 114 revenue villages falling under the RRDA.
“The Master Plan has provision of wider roads with specific widths. Width of Firayalal to Purulia Road has been fixed 150 feet while for Birsa Chowk towards Chaibasa would be of 200 feet. Provision for Inner Circular Road with 150 feet width is also in the plan besides 200 feet wide Ring Road. If there would be any need to acquire land for widening of these roads then equal amount of land would be taken from the residents from both the sides. They would be given FAR or TDR (Transfer of development rights) and none would be displaced,” said the Principal Secretary following the meeting.
