District Headquarter : GUMLA

History : The district was a part of undivided Ranchi district at the time of 1981 census. Gumla and Simdega are the two towns in the district and 1398 villages. The 18 Blocks in the district are : Bishunpur, Ghaghra, Chainpur, Dumri, Raidih, Gumla, Sisai, Verno, Kamdara, Basia, Palkot, Simdega, Kolebira, Bano, Jaldega, Thethaitangar, Kurdeg and Bolba.
