Markets in Chutia and Namkum remained closed after half day on Saturday due to a bandh called by Ranchi chapter of the Congress in protest against murder of a land trader and transporter, Naresh Sahu. Naresh was gunned down by three unidentified bike-ridden shooters outside his house near Power House Chowk in Chutia on Friday. The murder instigated seven-hour long logjam, affecting major arteries passing through Bahu Bazaar, Kantatoli, Dangratoli and adjoining areas. As Naresh was affiliated with the Congress, party members have strongly expressed their dissent over his murder. Marketplaces remained open in the morning in Chutia and Namkum, but bandh supporters came out to enforce the shutdown later in thenoon. In case the culprits are not apprehended soon, a Ranchi-wide bandh will be observed on Monday by the party.
