In yet another move towards empowering women in Jharkhand, the State Cabinet on Tuesday gave its approval for ‘Tejaswini’ scheme to be funded by the Central Government. The Cabinet, during Tuesday’s meeting at the Project Building Secretariat in Ranchi, also sanctioned Rs80.98 crore for the construction of Jharkhand Technical University. A total of 22 proposals were passed during the Cabinet meeting on Tuesday.
“The 540 crore ‘Tejaswini’ Scheme will be funded by the Central Government for which it will take 70 per cent of the total amount from World Bank as soft loan,” said Additional Chief Secretary (Cabinet) NN Pandey. Rest of the 30 per cent amount will be provided by the State Government, he added.
Pandey said under Tejaswini scheme women and girls within the age group of 11-24 years will be imparted employment oriented training in 17 districts of Jharkhand so that they could be made financially and socially independent.
