Paving way for the construction of a film city and promote investors in the field of cinema in Jharkhand, the State Cabinet on Tuesday gave its approval to the formation of Jharkhand Film Development Corporation.
“Under this scheme, a complete feasibility assessment will be done for the availability of land to develop the infrastructure for film making, determination of parameters for cinema houses, review of entertainment taxes imposed on them, promotion of small cinema houses and multiplexes, promotion of digital projection system and provide 50 per cent aid for the construction of solar-powered cinema halls in the State,” said Cabinet Secretary NN Pandey. There is also a provision for the development of shooting spots in the State, he said.
“Films shot in the State are to get 75 per cent rebate in the entertainment tax and 50 per cent and 25 per cent aid will also be given to the films made in regional languages and Hindi and other languages respectively. There is also a provision to establish a corpus fund of Rs 10 crore for giving support to the films made in regional languages,” Pandey said. Jharkhand Film Development Corporation, according to the official, is likely to come up within a year.
