Jharkhand Assembly turned 15 on Saturday as grand celebration and red-carpet welcome awaits Governor and elected representatives on the Anniversary Day. As the highest democratic institution in Jharkhand is all set to relive the moment of its creation, the campus is all set to glitter in glory and ready to bathe in the razzmatazz of cultural events.
The institution, which was created to shape the future of Jharkhand was constituted four times through direct election and nomination of one member from Anglo-Indian community. Despite political instability the institution maintained its sanctity and continued to function with fervour through successive governments. The 82-member Assembly comprises 81 directly elected and one member nominated from the Anglo-Indian community.
The day will start with official ceremony at the campus which will be the occasion for the constitutional head, the Speaker and the Chief Minister to share their views followed by unveiling of magazine—Udaan—and other literatures published by the Assembly. The evening of the anniversary day would showcase cultural events.
The day will be a memorable one for Jharkhand Vikas Morcha MLA, Pradeep Yadav who will be bestowed with the award of distinguished MLA for 2015. Yadav was selected by Distinguished MLA Committee constituted under the leadership of Speaker, Dinesh Oraon.
The JVM leader was elected from Poraiyahat in 2000, 2005, 2009, 2014 was associated with the Bhartiya Janta Party and had also earned birth in the State cabinet in the BJP-led government.
Meanwhile, three employees of the Assembly—Amit Kumar, Chandan and Priyadarshan Manjhi— will be bestowed with the award of distinguished employees on the occasion.
