Two jawans were martyred in an encounter between ultras and security forces in Godda district on Saturday morning even as police claims to have inflicted blow to the group of ultras during the skirmish.
The encounter took place in Katkaldih forest under Sundar Pahadi PS area in which jawan of Sahastra Seema Bal, Sujit Singh and constable of district police force, Surendra Sah went down fighting the ultras.
According to sources, DIG, CRPF, Rajiv Roy is also camping in the area as police intensified operations to nab the ultras who were suspected to disrupt first phase of Bihar elections scheduled to take place on October 12.
The encounter started following a search operation initiated in the area on the information about a group of 20 suspected Maoists owing allegiance to Talu Marandi making their way to Bihar to disrupt election process on October 12, sources said.
As many as four ultras were claimed to have sustained injuries in the encounter. Police has sealed border with the neighbouring state and two companies each of CRPF and Jharkhand Jaguar have been deployed on ground zero to secure the area.
